Gifts That Keep On Giving

A Guide To Conscious Gifting This Holiday Season

Gifts That Keep On Giving

I am a sucker for brands that give back. It makes my purchasing decision easier, and I feel good when I buy it. Would it be just as beneficial to simply choose a charity and donate? Sure, but since we are already buying gifts for others (and ourselves, let’s be serious), it makes a heck of a lot of sense to choose brands that give back. So, here is the non-exhaustive list of my personal favorite gifts that keep on giving.

hozen handbags respin

Vegan leather handbags – don’t mind if I do. Their use of color and design makes me want to open my wallet and give them all of my money. I’m really digging the belt bag trend right now, and you can wear this as both a crossbody and belt, versatile and incredibly soft. These handbags are ethically made in Los Angeles with mindful materials.

Gypsy Belles Temple Gold Lucky Bangles

The Gypsy Belles Temple Gold Lucky Bangles is a personal favorite and contains 22k gold leaf powder fallen from the collective prayers of countless individuals collected all over South East Asia’s temples. For every pack of Lucky Bangles you purchase – GypsyBelles donates all profits to Adopt A Family 2020 to feed a Bali family for 2 weeks.

SiiZU fashion brand

A fashion brand based in NYC, SiiZU uses some of the most luxurious materials to bring us minimalistic designs we can wear time and time again. Their sophisticated, clean look is made for any woman who appreciates tailored, well-fitted garments with sustainability at its core. Plus, they donate partial profits to the American Forest to help their project of planting 2.7 million trees this year.

outerknow brand

By 2050 there will be more plastic in our waters than fish & nearly all the world’s coral reefs could be lost. Outerknow is working to prevent this from happening. 100% of ITSNOTOK profits support Ocean Conservancy and their mission to clean & protect the ocean for generations to come. Better yet, they have great pieces for him & her.

EcoVibe boutique

A boutique & online shop, EcoVibe is a lovely boutique full of sustainable & trendy clothing and home goods. Their brick-and-mortar is based in one of my favorite places to visit, Portland, Oregon, and – good news for the rest of us – their online store ships worldwide. They carry ten brands within the shops, one of them being their own private line made right here in the USA and ethically imported abroad. Plus, they carry plants, the perfect addition to your at-home workspace, I may or may not have just added more than a few to my cart.

For the littles:

cuddle kind respin

I know what you’re thinking “my kid doesn’t need another stuffed animal,” – but you know that Aunt Becky is going to buy them one or two — so why not make it a beautiful handknit doll that gives back? Cuddle + Kind gives 10 meals per doll to children in need, and since 2015 they have been able to donate over 13 million meals. Their dolls are handknit by incredible women in Peru – providing them with sustainable, fair trade income. My little will not put hers down. Seriously, we take it everywhere, and we have even ordered backups just in case we lose one.

mable bamboo toothbrushes

The easiest sustainable switch anyone can make – plastic to bamboo when brushing. Not only are Mable’s bamboo toothbrushes biodegradable & chic, but they also give back to our communities. For every toothbrush purchased, one is given to a U.S. child. What’s also great about Mable is their subscription program that allows you to sign up to have a new toothbrush sent to you every few months. Yep, if you’re wondering if it is time for a new toothbrush, it probably is.

Again, there are so many unique, sustainable brands to choose from that give back – these are just a few of my personal favorites. A great place to start for finding sustainable goods is Made Trade – exceptionally designed, sustainably sourced, and ethically made goods for the modern wardrobe and home. Every purchase directly supports small businesses, independent makers, and artisans around the world. I could go on and on about gifts that keep on giving, but then I’d have to keep you here all day long — seriously.
