Meet Rocky Horsford
“
Family, true friends, good health, and mental wellness is the gold and it must be a top priority in life. ”
When did you decide that you wanted to be a PT?
I think PT chose me. People would always ask me what I did to keep in shape, etc, etc. I taught dance prior for a long time before my involvement in fitness, so for me leading and giving instruction was not foreign. I love helping people feel good in their skin, so in 2003 I decided to make it official and get PT certification and it has been history ever since.
First thing you do when you wake up?
I say "Good morning and Thank you for a new day" (in my head), do a little stretch and then roll out of bed.
Where do you draw inspiration for your workouts?
I think trainers draw inspiration from each other. Lets face it, you cannot reinvent squats, lifts, etc. But your personal spin, your voice, your approach makes the workout unique and special. Therefore speaking to that audience who understands and gravitates to your language.
What is your training philosophy?
To rock your best! Find something you enjoy, be consistent, and give it your all for the time you carved out in your day to be the best you!
What advice would you give someone just discovering fitness?
Find something that you thoroughly enjoy, an activity that makes you feel 100% ready to have a great day!
What does your pre/post-workout meal consist of?
I have to admit I do not like to eat before my workouts, but if I do, it is something very light; a piece of fruit, hot tea, maybe a boiled egg. My post meals would be fish and veggies or quinoa and veggies. My diet is Pescetarianism.
If you had a full day off, what would you do with it?
Today, I would make plans to go outside and hike, spend time with my husband and son, cook a great dinner together and watch a movie.
What are you hoping people will get out of your RESPIN workouts?
I am hoping to bring inspiration to people who want to begin and make a new commitment to themselves and their health. My hope is to break down any barriers and/or intimidation and present an accessibility to fitness and wellness for all people and all levels.
How do you feel you’ve rē•spun your life?
My mindset is so different this year. I spent a lot of time with myself. I took inventory of how I spend my time, what I accomplish, and who I spend it with. One thing you are in control of is what comes into your life. You are in control of the energy you allow in your life and I love the energy I am surrounded with right now.
