Meet Karis Gant
If I could change something in the fitness industry, it would be the unrealistic standard of beauty or the “perfect body” I would love for us to celebrate our God-given bodies more fiercely with the understanding that we can enhance our bodies naturally.
When did you decide that you wanted to be a PT?
I started inspiring friends and family to change their lifestyle based on the changes I was making in my life and realized just how passionate I am about helping people and decided to take it on as a full-time career in 2014.
What is your training philosophy?
My philosophy is to “train the body, master the mind.”
What advice would you give someone just discovering fitness?
You have to stay connected to the things that are fun while also getting the guidance needed to reach your goals at the same time.
First thing you do when you wake up?
The first thing I do when I wake up is drink a cup of room-temperature water. After that, I do a 10-minute yoga-inspired stretch.
What does your pre/post-workout meal consist of?
My pre-workout meal is usually oatmeal. For my post-workout meals, I’ll usually have a protein shake.
What are you hoping people will get out of your rē•spin workouts?
I’m hoping that people will feel like they’ve had a good workout but also learn to understand the importance of taking your time and that your journey is unique to you, including imperfections and victories.
How do you feel you’ve rē•spun your life?
Embracing the changes the pandemic has brought has been the main way I’ve rē•spun my life.
