Meet Rocky Horsford

When did you decide that you wanted to be a PT?
I think PT chose me. People would always ask me what I did to keep in shape, etc, etc. I taught dance prior for a long time before my involvement in fitness, so for me leading and giving instruction was not foreign. I love helping people feel good in their skin, so in 2003 I decided to make it official and get PT certification and it has been history ever since.
Is there anything in the fitness industry you’d like to change, and why?
I think Fitness experts are more than experts of movement. They have loads of qualifications, experience and can tap into the relevant climate of the industry as it stands. I think it would be amazing if Major companies would bring fitness experts to the table as consultants, advisors, etc., when tech, apparel, product lines are developing brands. This would also be a great avenue for trainers to expand their career growth and a huge benefit to the company. Especially, recruiting more people of color and women in this decision making positions.
What is your training philosophy?
To Rock Your Best! Find something you enjoy, be consistent and give it your all for the finite time you carved out in your day to be the Best you!

My sweet spot for training is Dance fitness, barre, strength....I like cross training within my workouts.
Where do you draw inspiration for your workouts?
I think trainers draw inspiration from each other. Lets face it, you cannot reinvent squats, lifts, etc. But your personal spin, your voice, your approach makes the workout unique and special. Therefore speaking to that audience who understands and gravitates to your language.

I like cross training. Doing the things that make me feel physically and mentally fit. I love mixing dance fitness, barre workouts, Hiit workouts, Yoga and stretch.
If you could do a workout collaboration with one person, who would it be, and why?
The Rock. He seems so cool and looks like hercules! Our workouts are so opposite, but I love when polar opposites come together to share and learn. I think it would be hilarious to trade moves, he seems fun and who wouldn't want to watch "The Rock and Rocky"? lol

I love Afro-beat music, anything by Yemi Alade.
How do you feel you’ve rē•spun your life?
My mindset is so different this year. I spent a lot of time with myself. I took inventory on how I spend my time, what I accomplish, who I spend it with, etc....One thing you are in control of ...is what comes into your life. You are in control of the energy you allow in your life and I love the energy I am surrounded with right now.
What are you hoping people will get out of your rē•spin workouts?
